Background and profile

Micap plc is an English registered company, quoted on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange.

Micap came to AIM in August 2003, raising funds to develop its patented yeast microencapsulation technology in the food, agrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

In early 2005, Micap expanded its
range of encapsulation technologies
with the formation of Micap GmbH,
a German company which acquired
the business of Rendel & Scherer GbR.

Micap GmbH offers encapsulation and
coating technologies to partners
requiring a bespoke solution to their
encapsulation needs.

As the Group developed, opportunities
arose in the scale up of benchtop
solutions created by companies within
the Group.

To crystallise these opportunites in
August 2005, Micap purchased a
spray drying facility in Athlone,
Ireland – Micap Encapsulates Ltd.

This plant has the ability to manufacture spray dried products in batches from 200kg to many tonnes, and has already established contracts with partners of Micap plc as well as generating independent business.

The new structure allows Micap Plc to offer a complete service solution to any partner bringing a new challenge.

This mix of development services, analytical and formulation support and ultimate manufacturing makes Micap plc the one stop shop for encapsulation needs.
