Micap in joint agreement with Fertin

Micap has entered into a joint collaboration with Fertin Pharma A/S (¡§Fertin¡¨) the leading developer and manufacturer of medical chewing gums, concerning the application of Micap¡¦s yeast encapsulation technology (MicapTM) in combination with Fertin¡¦s Medichew„¥technology. Upon successful completion of a feasibility study, due in June, Fertin will have the option to negotiate a worldwide exclusive license agreement with Micap. , Fertin Pharma is a world leader in the development and manufacture of medical chewing gum. The company¡¦s core competence is the controlled release of active substances from gum-based products. Fertin Pharma works in partnership with some of the world¡¦s largest pharmaceutical companies and the most recognised product brands it is involved with include Nicotinell® and NiQuitin CQ® gum, produced for Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline respectively. Fertin Pharma operates purely as a business-to-business drug delivery company and partner companies hold all marketing rights.

Fertin has committed significant resources to an evaluation of the project at its own expense, which could culminate in clinical trials involving the evaluation of the MicapTM system with Micap sharing rights to all information generated. Gordon Nelson, Technical Director of Micap, said: ¡§This is a very encouraging development in our drive to commercialise the new discoveries we are making through our research programmes. Micap offers the potential of significant enhancement in the delivery of drugs and we are very excited that a specialist company such as Fertin is willing to discuss this level of investment in our technology.¡¨

Bo Tandrup, Business Development Manager for Fertin, said: ¡§We look forward to working with Micap on the program; to generate what we hope will be exciting data and to then cementing a longer term alliance that will reward both parties.¡¨
